PreCanSkate
PreCanSkate is a learn to skate program for children under 5 years of age, with little or no skating experience who have no badges/ribbons completed in the CanSkate program. It is for our younger skaters who are new to skating and who would feel comfortable being on the ice without a parent. We have trained program assisstants to help the skaters. If you feel your skater needs a parent on the ice, consider registering for our Parent & Tot program.
Skaters are introduced to the basics of skating in a fun, friendly manner. Session includes a short off-ice warm-up to further develop the skating fundamentals. Skaters progress directly into the main CanSkate program upon mastering the PreCanSkate skills.
PreCanSkate program skills for completion are listed below - on the last day of class skaters will receive a report card indicating which skills have been achieved. When all 8 skills have been mastered skaters will graduate into CanSkate Curriculum:
- Balance on 2 feet
- Fall down and get up
- Move forward
- Make snow
- Move backward
- March around the spot
- 2-foot twist on the spot
- Jump on the spot
CSA approved hockey helmets are MANDATORY and face masks are highly recommended.
PreCanSkate follows the same format as CanSkate, to learn more please visit the CanSkate page.
