PreSTARSkate

Skaters must be registered for at least 1 CanSkate session in order to register for this program and must have completed CanSkate Stage 3 and would like to continue developing figure skating skills and technique. PreSTARSkate will introduce skaters to the sport of figure skating and its disciplines: freeskate, skills and ice dance. The goal of the program is to prepare skaters for successful completion of the STAR 1 assessments (tests) in freeskate, skills and ice dance.
This includes:
- Skills: edges, turns, power and field moves.
- Freeskate: jump and spin technique as well as the introduction of programs to music.
- Ice Dance: dance steps and technique, pattern dances, timing and carriage.
Assessments – Skaters in this program will be assessed by the coach that is teaching them each discipline (freeskate, skills & ice dance).
